13:00 KifKif writing competition award ceremony

Oikois and Kifkif organised a writing competition around climate racism. Indeed, racism and the ecological crisis share a common cause: a (neo)colonial capitalist system that exploits both people and the planet for profit, or as Jamaican-British activist Mikaela Loach writes: ‘Climate justice shows us that addressing the climate crisis can also liberate us all.’

The Klimaatdichters (Climate Poets) propose an agenda. Klimaatdichters is a movement of Flemish and Dutch word artists. Inspired by Poets for the Planet, they fight for a climate-friendly world through poetry in all its manifestations.

Swedish writer and youth worker Nicolas Lunabba debuted with Are You Sad When I Die, a heartbreaking memoir about friendship and love between damaged people, and an indictment of the politics that leave so many boys to their own devices. Since his explosive debut, an opinion maker of great influence on Swedish public debate. Soon his second book will be released.

15:00 Panel discussion with Wytske Versteeg, Sarah Vanhee, Einat Tuchman & Nicolas Lunabba (in English)

Wytske Versteeg writes novels and non-fiction. Her most recent book is the novel The Golden Hour. Her work has been nominated and awarded several times. Her new book Waar – about the art of (not) knowing – comes out on 17 September.

Sarah Vanhee is an internationally renowned artist, performer and author. She moves between the public space and the institutional art field and is known for inventing ever-new, original art forms. For her, art is also a tool for bringing underexposed stories and non-dominant voices to the foreground.

Einat Tuchman is a performer and choreographer living in Brussels and working on socio-artistic concepts. She explores the complex relationship between the self and the collective environment in relation to territoriality and ownership.
